Setting Up a Simple Peptide Research Log
Consistent record-keeping is a small habit that makes a big difference to reproducibility in any research setting. Here is a simple structure you can adapt for logging peptide handling.
What to Record
- Batch/lot number (from the vial and Certificate of Analysis)
- Date received and storage conditions
- Reconstitution date, diluent used, and volume
- Storage location and temperature after reconstitution
- Any observations (e.g. clarity, colour) at each check
Why the Batch Number Matters Most
Of everything on this list, the batch number is the single most important field — it is what ties your log back to the specific Certificate of Analysis for that vial.
Keeping It Simple
A basic spreadsheet with these columns is usually enough. The goal is consistency, not complexity.
