Peptide Storage: Short-Term vs Long-Term Guidelines
Storage conditions are one of the biggest factors in how long a peptide remains usable for research. The right approach depends on whether the compound is still in lyophilised (freeze-dried) form or has already been reconstituted.
Lyophilised (Unopened) Storage
Most lyophilised peptides remain stable for extended periods — commonly up to several years — when kept frozen at around -20°C, away from light and repeated temperature cycling.
Reconstituted Storage
Once mixed with a diluent, peptides should be refrigerated at 2–8°C and are generally intended for use within a matter of weeks, not months.
What Shortens Shelf Life
- Repeated freeze-thaw cycling
- Exposure to direct light or heat
- Excessive agitation or shaking during handling
Always check the specific storage guidance on the product page, as stability can vary between compounds.
